These individuals manipulate sacred cultural concepts, spiritual fears, or superstitious beliefs to commit abuses, perform exploitative acts, or victimize vulnerable individuals.
It is critical for the public and digital communities to understand the clear distinction between authentic indigenous spiritual heritage and the predatory actions of those who exploit these frameworks.
Understanding the Reality of the Issue
- Distinction Between Heritage and Exploitation Authentic traditional healing and indigenous belief systems across Africa, Latin America, and other regions are rooted in community care, herbal knowledge, and spiritual harmony. However, fraudulent practitioners and criminal opportunistic groups sometimes co-opt these traditions, twisting them into justification for coercion, extortion, theft, or physical harm under the guise of "rituals" or "spiritual power."
